- Daily demand sales revenue: Expected revenue from all the orders received in a day
- Daily shipped sales revenue: Revenue earned from all the orders shipped in a day
- Daily net sales revenue: Daily Shipped sales revenue - Daily Expenses.
*Note: Daily expenses may include return processing expenses, operational expenses and other expenses varying from retailer to retailer.
The Daily Sales Summary report gives a detailed view of daily demand sales revenue, shipped sales revenue, and net sales revenue, providing a holistic view of daily sales for more accurate and impactful analysis.
What the report shows
The report puts the full picture of a day's sales on one row, from demand through shipping, returns, and margin.
- Demand: demand sales, daily sales revenue, orders, units, average order size, and average unit revenue.
- Shipped: shipped sales, shipped units, and shipping revenue.
- Pre-orders: shipped pre-order sales and units, with pre-order share of sales and units.
- Returns: returned units, split into store returns and warehouse returns.
- Profitability: net sales, average cost, and demand gross margin in dollars and as a percentage.
How teams use it
Sales and retail leaders compare demand revenue with shipped revenue to see how much of the day's demand turned into shipped sales. A widening gap points to fulfillment or inventory problems worth investigating.
Splitting returns between stores and the warehouse shows where returns are landing, and the margin columns show whether a strong sales day was also a profitable one.
Reading the same columns across a week or a month shows trends that a single day can hide, such as a slow rise in returns or a steady change in average order size.
