The Import App provides an easy interface to upload files manually to the OMS with handy functions like saved mappings, but until now, it didn’t cover all use cases for inventory upload into the OMS With the updated version, merchandisers now have a centralized view of all approaches of importing inventory directly from the Import App, providing unified visibility and control.
What are the inventory import methods available?
-
Exact ATP: This approach is used when a retailer needs to match inventory in HotWax with the sellable (ATP) inventory in ERP systems, such as NetSuite. This method imports inventory by comparing the quantity in CSV with the OMS's systemic ATP. The difference (delta in ATP) is applied to both ATP and QOH (Quantity on Hand) in the OMS.
-
Exact QOH: This approach is used when retailers need to sync physical inventory from an inventory management system, to HotWax Commerce OMS without considering inventory reservations. This approach compares the current QOH in OMS with QOH in the provided CSV and applies the delta to both QOH and ATP.
-
Adjust by Certain Amount: Retailers can use this approach in cases where, for any reason, retailers want to shift their inventory from one eCommerce bucket to wholesale. They can simply adjust inventory by a certain amount using this import which internally locks the variance.
For example, when retailers prefer to maintain a certain amount of inventory online and in case they want to shift some of their inventory from retail warehouse to online warehouse they can do this by using this method.
-
Cycle Count or Similar: Retailers can use this approach when, for example, a store recovers lost quantities of an item. The system will set both ATP and QOH to the exact numbers provided in the CSV.
-
Schedule Incoming Inventory: This approach is used when retailers plan new product launches and need these products to be available for sale at precise times. For example, if a retailer plans to start selling a new product at 10 AM on June 31st, they need the inventory to be synced exactly at that time.
-
Future inventory for Pre-Order: In cases when retailers pre-launch a product and take pre-orders on the basis of inventory in upcoming purchase order. This approach is used to import that purchase order manually into OMS.
Apart from this the Import App now also provides the option to view and schedule jobs in respect to every approach of importing inventory. The updated version of Import App facilitates retailers to smoothly manage manually uploading CSV files for inventory in OMS.
